Tarnished Silver

Tarnished Silver main page, using the skin Crown

This was my web design site I started in 2003, the summer after grade 9. It started off with web templates that I made for fun and decided to let other people use. It was always cool to see other people using my creations. Over the years I added forum avatars/Livejournal icons, Photoshop brushes and a few tutorials. I think my Livejournal icons were the most popular, I still see people using them sometimes.

Since I started this website when I was so young, and knew next to nothing about programming, the code just grew messier and messier. It was “skinned”, and used my homebrewed PHP code to serve up updates blog entries and content stored in a MySQL database. I had pieced the code together from various PHP books, online tutorials and message board posts. When I started taking university CS courses, the code of this site’s back end gave even me headaches to look at. I finally closed and deleted the site early 2009, after 7 years. Still, it was a fun experience, allowing me to practice HTML, CSS and Photoshop and giving me my first taste of programming and databases.
